ヒップホップのみならず、ダブやジャズ、ベースミュージックをも飲み込んだ、ドープなビートと革新的なサウンドで活躍するRas G。L.A.を拠点とし、デビュー当初はCarlos Nino周辺と活動を共にしていた。その後もMadlibなどとキャリアを重ね、現在は、Flying Lotusが主宰するレーベルBrainfeederに所属。Low End Theoryに幾度も出演しDublabにも深い関わりを持つなど、L.Aビートシーンのメインストリームで活動してきた。
その楽曲はSun Raからの影響を強く受けつつも、ブラック・ミュージックの歴史を俯瞰するような懐の深さを感じさせる。Gilles Peterson、Kode9といったアーティストとステージを共にするなど、その活躍は幅広く、2008年にはRas G & The Afrikan Space Program名義にて、待望のアルバム『Ghetto Sci-Fi』をリリース。ブラック・ミュージックの最先端を切り開く存在として多くの注目を集めている。

Ras_G utilizes his signature palette to draw the connection between the four on the floor tabernacle of Chicago house music and it’s roots in the drum circles of ancient Afrika.
